Hi, my name is John Stockwell and I have spent a lifetime riding bikes of all types and I am now able to pass on my experience as a full-time coach. I have raced professionally as a BMX and 4X rider and became a Factory Rider, travelling around Europe competing in National, European and World Championships. I have been a National BMX Champion and ranked 11th in the World.
I raced 4X for Team Idenditti and competed in the early BDRA Nationals and then in the MBUK National Pro Series alongside such names as Steve Peat, Will Longdens and the Athertons to name just a few! I have raced many other disciplines including XC Mountain Biking, Cyclo-Cross, Road Racing and Cycle Speedway. It has been while entering these events that I have noticed my bike handling skills have helped me vastly. In some races my skills have gained me 20 seconds or more a lap over riders of less ability.
I worked for British Cycling for 4 years as a Coach and now work for them as a Tutor on the Level 2 MTB and BMX Award, so I coach the coaches! I am now a full-time freelance Mountain Bike Coach as well as working at Lee Valley VeloPark, coaching all disciplines including the BMX, Velodrome and Road.
With my expertise I believe I can teach you all you need to know to advance your riding. I offer coaching for all abilities, from beginner to expert. I have many years’ experience working with schools, colleges, local authorities as well as taking birthday parties and corporate events.
