I rode Motocross bikes during my teens with a little BMX and got into MTB in my mid 20’s, riding mainly XC around our local trails. After spending a lot of time abroad working, my biking fell away for a while and it wasn’t until 2010 when I got back into it again. For me the 2012 Olympics was a turning point. I started to ride with a group of local mountain biker’s spurred on by the creation of the fantastic facility being developed in Hadleigh. After the Olympics, I decided to gain my coaching qualifications so I could help others in the Hadleigh MTB Club.
For the past year, I have been coaching at Hadleigh Park. This started off with taking led rides around the original Olympic track and coaching riders through all of the technical features. Since gaining my Level 2 in MTB specifically, I now help with coaching the Hadleigh MTB Club as well as it’s race team.
I am able to offer coaching across all disciplines at a foundation level and due to my MTB qualifications, I can teach the more technical skills involved with mountain biking. Coaching sessions or led rides can be organised for groups or individuals at Hadleigh Park. I specialise in coaching anyone new to MTB or anyone who wants to build up their confidence and mental abilities on the bike.
I have been riding at the Hadleigh Park for a few years now; and I must say it is a great venue for any rider to gain additional skills; and with the help of a coach, one that can really improve their technique. As a venue it has not only the beauty of being able to do full laps on a World Class Olympic standard venue, but as a rider you can repeat each technical section to really hone your skills.
