This is a great orienteering activity for all the family, and only £1 per child to take part! When you arrive at Hadleigh Park, go to our Office (situated at the back left of the hub area, next to the BikeArt shop) and one of our friendly team will give you the necessary information.
You can then take your map as you explore the park and find all the markers on your sheet. The whole family can get involved and get active in this fun activity, whether by walking, scooting or even cycling. The course utilises our family trail area and all weather surface tracks. Whatever the weather the trail is fully accessible for all, including wheelchair and pushchair users….just make sure you are dressed suitable for the weather!
What is Orienteering?
It is called ‘The Adventure Sport for All’ by British Orienteering. It is an outdoor adventure sport, in which you use a map to navigate around a certain site. The aim of the sport if to navigate a course in the quickest time, you must find every control point or marker on your way around. In competitions competitors are timed, everyone competes to get round the course the quickest. Here at Hadleigh we do not time you (well not yet!) and no compasses are needed either! It is a great way to get out in the countryside and get active. Whether you walk, jog or run an orienteering course, it does not matter what age or fitness level you may be.
